Excited to be invited by curator Hester Keijser to take part in Taxed to the Max at Noorderlicht International Photography Festival 2019 in Groningen, presenting a cross section of work from my long-term Masterplan Project - a multi-faceted research and lens-based project with a range of critical enquiries exploring the island of Jersey's finance industry. Within this umbrella, a new body of work Archaeology of Finance will be exhibited at Ballarat International Foto Biennale in Australia between 23 Aug to 20 Oct in a group exhibition, CAPITAL curated by Gareth Syvret and Naomi Cass.

Hope you have a great opening and best success for the future!
Becque á Barbe featured in Island of the Mind /
On a linguistic level the project is exploring the space between the formal, etymological and vernacular use of Jérriais. Photography as a medium is mute and the challenge is to photograph, what essentially is a spoken language.

Te Ahi Ka reviewed in Photomonitor /
'The contemporary and the historical are interwoven into layers like lush ferns on the deep forest floor. Portraits of the 19th century ancestors of modern New Zealanders are shown alongside their descendants, past lives brought to the present. They lived with the historic injustices that only now are being corrected….
...The cycle of life is ever-present, from seed to tree to fruit to rot and then seed again. The pacing of the images also tells a story, from forests and the sea to people, then to forest and sea again. The people are a part of the ever-renewing cycle of nature, where past is present.'
